The protein casein found in milk creates histamines responsible for the production of mucus which if excessive can put pressure on brain membranes that can trigger a migraine.

Dairy products are the contributing factor in a migraine attack for many people. If you are a migraine sufferer, try to make a record of your consumption before a migraine attack and see if avoiding them will help mitigate or eradicate your suffering. Dairy products that should be avoided include all types of cheese, milk, ice cream, yogurt and sour cream.
